Not Worth The Effort
one semester in junior college i had 3 classes with a random girl. we got to know each other and fell pretty hard for each other (so i thought). but she had a boyfriend. after 3 months of hardcore flirting and massive amounts of time being spent together, for my birthday she broke up with her boyfriend for me as a present. we became official for about 3 weeks. ever since we met she always said that she wanted a guy to stand outside her window, hold up a boombox and play a song for her, just like in "say anything". so the night before she left to spring break with her friends i went out, bought a boombox, the cd with the song she wanted (phantom planet's "she must be somebodies baby") and drove the 35 minutes to her house.
when i get there i see her ex boyfriends car in the drive way. i give her a call to see whats up and she doesn't answer. i knock on the door. she calls me back and breaks up with me over the phone...she didn't even have the decencey to come outside and tell me about her fucking him behind my back face to face.
so really i ended up just like john cusacks character in "say anything", alone, betrayed and embarassed...but hey, at least i got a boombox out of it.
Hey
It would have been nicer if she paid for the boombox though.
